Firm Bio

HARTMANN Architecture, Inc. is a small architectural firm with a big ‘hands-on’ attitude. Established in 2003, the philosophy of Ha., as a Design Service company, is one of high-quality design and uncompromised service. Our combined architectural experiences range from Automotive Dealerships, small Specialty Retail, Pre-School Facilities, Shopping Centers, Office Buildings, Bookstores, Funeral Homes, Residential Community Clubhouses and Custom Residences. We have consulted with Mall Owners to produce Tenant Criteria Manuals and Tenant Document reviews. Our Client List has included names such as John Hancock Real Estate Investment Group, Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, The Improv & Funny Bone Comedy Clubs, SCI Management Co., the world’s largest Funeral Home Owners, American Land Lease, a developer of manufactured residential home communities, and multiple Automotive Dealerships. Our project experiences have ranged in size from 300 SF to 200,000 SF.

Our Automotive Dealership work started in the year 2000 with the design of the 51,000 SF Tampa Honda and today we are working on our fifty-fourth Automotive Dealership project. We have been involved with multiple manufacturers; five Honda Dealerships, two Nissan Dealerships, two Acura Dealerships, five Chevrolet Dealerships, VW, Ford, Buick/ GMC, Mazda, Infiniti, Hyundai, Smart Car, Mercedes Benz, Aston Martin, Lexus, Chrysler, and four Toyota Dealerships.

We were selected by Seminole Community College as the Architects for their $12 million, 52,000 SF, Automotive Training Facility at the Lake Mary Campus in Sanford, Florida. This state-of-the-art Mechanics Training Facility, contains 40-service stall bays and five classroom pods.

Our work with the Improv & Funny Bone Comedy Club Group first started in 2000 for the Improv Comedy Club & Restaurant in Centro Ybor in Tampa; a 12,000 SF facility located in a Nationally Registered Historic Building. Since that time, we have worked with the comedy club group on fifteen clubs throughout the United States. Our hospitality work involves community clubhouses and amenities, such as pool bathhouses and fitness centers for American Land Lease and WRH Realty, a developer of Apartment Communities.

We have been involved with retail projects of all types from stand-alone, ‘big box retail’ (Barnes & Noble superstores, Marshals, Pier One, Jo Ann’s Crafts, etc.), specialty shops (tanning & beauty salons, yogurt & novelty shops, clothing boutiques and restaurants) and shopping centers – both new, ground-up work and façade renovations for existing centers.

We have a twenty-nine year ongoing working relationship with the world’s largest ‘Death Care Provider’ company – SCI Management of Houston, Texas, and in that time span Ha.’s President, Richard Hartmann, has been involved in 70 various Funeral Home projects.

We have worked on university student bookstores with Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, Inc., an operator of college and university campus student bookstores.

All in all, the breadth of our experience is wide and varied and with a purpose. In uncertain economic times, we feel the diversity of project types helps our Firm sustain and as Architects, the variety of project types is appealing to us. We pride ourselves in producing good sustainable design, well-coordinated documents and outstanding service. The number of repeat clients speaks of our commitment to establishing long term working relationships and we feel we must be doing something right – ‘they keep coming back’.

We are licensed to practice Architecture in Florida and North Carolina.
